University of Zurich
With its 26,000 enrolled students, the University of Zurich (UZH) is Switzerland's largest university. Founded in the year 1833, UZH was Europe's first university to be established by a democratic political system; today, UZH is one of the foremost universities in the German-speaking world. Made up of seven faculties covering some 100 different subject areas, the University offers a wide variety of Bachelor's, Master's and PhD programs.
Digital change is not a purely technological phenomenon; it also has a profound impact on the economy and society. The Digital Society Initiative of the University of Zurich therefore involves researchers from all disciplines in order to broadly reflect and innovatively shape the process of digitalization.
The times in which only technological innovations and performance were discussed are over. Because there is more at stake: ethical, legal, social and economic aspects must also be discussed and the view of digitalisation must be extended.
Switzerland must meet the challenges of digitalisation, and the University of Zurich, the largest university in Switzerland, has a key role to play in this. The University of Zurich therefore founded the Digital Society Initiative in 2016, a platform that researches and bundles digitization across all disciplines. To the website
